Greaseproof, Parchment and Waxed Are Not the Same Thing

Greaseproof paper resists oil because the fibres are beaten until the sheet is dense. It handles a burger or a bacon roll well and takes print cleanly.

Parchment is treated differently and tolerates oven heat, which matters if the paper goes into a hot cabinet. Waxed paper carries a coating that repels moisture but softens under heat, so it suits cold and ambient food rather than anything straight from a fryer.

Can greaseproof paper be printed all over?

Heavy solid coverage is possible but rarely a good idea. Ink sits on an absorbent surface and a full flood can look patchy while adding cost. A repeated one or two colour pattern with plenty of unprinted paper usually looks better and costs less.

Is printed paper safe against hot food?

When the paper grade and ink system are both specified for direct food contact, yes. That is a specification decision rather than an assumption, so tell us what the paper touches and how hot it is and we will confirm the grade on your quote.

What is the difference between a flat bag and a block-bottom bag?

A flat bag lies completely flat and suits a single pastry or a sandwich. A block-bottom bag opens out to stand up on its own, which matters when staff need to fill it one-handed or when the contents should not be crushed.

What do you need to quote papers or bags?

What the paper or bag holds, whether it is hot, cold or oily, the sheet or bag size, and your quantity.

Can you supply plain stock?
