Food Boxes

Custom Chip and Fry Boxes

Chip portions are described as regular and large, and those words mean completely different things from one shop to the next. Sizing a box from them produces a box that is wrong.

Weigh a serving, send us the figure, and the box comes back sized to the food rather than to a label.

Design Your Own

Design Your Custom Chip & Fry Boxes

Pick a colour, put your name on it, and see how the idea reads before you ask anyone for a price. It is a sketch rather than a manufacturing proof — the real shape is cut from the product you already serve.

Finish

Put the branding on the face that points upwards. That is the one a customer looks at while carrying the tray back to a table.

Carry this into the full designer

The full page adds the size, board, print and quantity, then sends the whole specification over in one go. Nothing is committed to at any point.

Scoop Against Carton

The open front is the whole difference, and it cuts both ways.

Counter trade suits a scoop; delivery and seated service suit a carton.

Grease Resistance Is the Baseline, Not an Upgrade

Chips carry more free oil than any other item in this catalogue. Untreated board goes translucent within a minute or two, and the print goes with it.

Every box in this range is quoted on a grease-resistant board as standard. The variable is which grade, and that depends on your fryer temperature and how long portions are held.

Ordering, Artwork and Delivery

Getting a Quote

Weigh a typical portion on your own scales and send us the figure. We reply with a written specification, the minimum order quantity and the lead time for your job.

Artwork

Simple, high-contrast artwork survives grease and handling best on these. Full file requirements are set out in our artwork guidelines.

Turnaround

Lead times depend on the print method, run length and press schedule, so we confirm yours on the quote rather than publishing a single figure.

Delivery in the UK

Custom Chip & Fry Boxes: Common Questions

What size box do I need for a regular portion of chips?

There is no standard answer, because a regular portion ranges from about 150 to 300 grams across UK shops. Weigh yours and send the figure, and we will size the box from it.

Why do my chips go soft in a box?

Trapped steam rather than the board. A closed carton holds moisture against the chips, so either an open format or a vented carton is needed if crispness matters.

Can we print full colour on a grease-resistant board?

Yes. The grease resistance is a lining or coating on the inner face, so the printable outer surface behaves normally.

Scoop or carton for a chip shop?

A scoop if the customer eats standing up, a carton if they sit down or the order is delivered. Scoops fill faster during a rush.

Why do chips go soft in a closed box?

Trapped steam. A closed carton holds moisture against the chips, which is why vented cartons and open scoops exist.

How do we size a chip box?

Weigh a typical portion on your own scales. A regular portion ranges from roughly 150 to 300 grams across UK shops, so the word tells us nothing.

Do these arrive assembled?

Flat-packed or pre-formed, and the difference matters. Flat stores in a fraction of the space; pre-formed is ready instantly.

Can we print full colour on grease-resistant board?

Yes. The grease resistance is a lining on the inner face, so the printable outer surface behaves normally.

Will the box stand up on a counter?

With a formed base, yes. A scoop with a narrow base tips when set down, which is a common complaint.

Do we need venting?

On a closed carton, if crispness matters. Vent size and position both matter — too few and nothing escapes, too many and the food cools.
