Food Trays

Custom Bakery Trays

Bakery items are bought in fours and sixes, and they slide. A flat tray delivers six pastries to the customer's door in one corner.

The tray's job here is arrangement as much as carrying.

Design Your Own

Design Your Custom Bakery Trays

Pick a colour, put your name on it, and see how the idea reads before you ask anyone for a price. It is a sketch rather than a manufacturing proof — the real shape is cut from the product you already serve.

Finish

Put the branding on the face that points upwards. That is the one a customer looks at while carrying the tray back to a table.

Carry this into the full designer

The full page adds the size, board, print and quantity, then sends the whole specification over in one go. Nothing is committed to at any point.

Stopping Items Sliding

A shallow lip around the edge is not enough on its own — items still slide within it and end up stacked against one side.

Shallow indentations or a lightly textured base hold items in place well enough for a short journey, which is usually all that is needed.

Bakery-Specific Considerations

  • Butter and glaze mark plain board, so a lined surface keeps the tray presentable.
  • Items are usually visible through a lid or film, so the tray is part of the display.
  • Trays often go into a box, so external dimensions have to match a box you already use.
  • Icing sugar shows on dark board and disappears on white.

If the tray goes inside a box, send the box dimensions with your enquiry.

Ordering, Artwork and Delivery

Getting a Quote

Tell us the internal size you need and what the tray has to carry. We reply with a written specification, the minimum order quantity and the lead time for your job.

Artwork

Artwork sits on the rim and outer faces; the base is covered by food. Full file requirements are set out in our artwork guidelines.

Turnaround

Lead times depend on the print method, run length and press schedule, so we confirm yours on the quote rather than publishing a single figure.

Delivery in the UK

Orders are dispatched on national carriers to any UK address. Seedelivery information for how dates are given.

Custom Bakery Trays: Common Questions

Will pastries slide on the tray?

On a flat, smooth base, yes. Shallow indentations or a textured surface hold them well enough for a walk home, which is what most bakery orders involve.

Should the tray fit inside our existing boxes?

It should, and it is worth checking rather than assuming. Send the internal dimensions of the box and we will size the tray to sit inside it with a small clearance.

How do we stop pastries sliding?

Shallow indentations or a lightly textured base. A plain lip alone lets items slide within it and stack against one side.

Will the tray fit inside our boxes?

Send the box internal dimensions and we will size it to sit inside with a small clearance rather than needing to be forced.

Do bakery trays need a lined board?

For anything buttery or glazed, yes. Butter marks plain board within hours, and the tray is usually visible through a lid.

Does icing sugar show on the tray?

Clearly on dark board and hardly at all on white, which is worth thinking about if your counter dusts heavily.

How many sizes will we need?

Two usually covers a bakery counter — one for a few items and one for a six or twelve pack.

Can we print between the indentations?

There is limited clear area once items are placed. The rim carries branding more reliably.

Do these suit a delivery box?

They do, and the tray is what stops six pastries arriving in one corner. Size it to the box rather than the other way round.

Will the tray survive being carried flat?

With a rigid board, yes. A loaded bakery tray is usually carried level with both hands, which is the least demanding case.

Prefer to Talk It Through?

Sizing questions are usually quicker on the phone, especially if you have the product in front of you.
