Printed Food Papers

Custom Printed Wax Paper

Waxed paper carries a coating that repels moisture very effectively and softens under heat. Those two facts define exactly where it belongs.

It is a cold and ambient product, and using it against hot food is the mistake to avoid.

Design Your Own

Design Your Custom Wax Paper

Pick a colour, put your name on it, and see how the idea reads before you ask anyone for a price. It is a sketch rather than a manufacturing proof — the real shape is cut from the product you already serve.

Finish

On unbleached board every colour prints warmer than it looks here. Two inks chosen for kraft beat four fighting the brown.

Carry this into the full designer

The full page adds the size, board, print and quantity, then sends the whole specification over in one go. Nothing is committed to at any point.

Moisture Out, Heat Is a Problem

The wax coating stops moisture passing through the sheet, which suits cold sandwiches, cheese, confectionery and anything that would go soggy in plain paper.

Warm it and the coating softens, transfers to the food, and stops doing its job. It is not a matter of degree — it is the wrong material for hot applications.

Where Waxed Paper Suits

  • Cold sandwiches and wraps prepared ahead.
  • Confectionery and toffee, where stickiness is the issue.
  • Cheese and deli items kept chilled.
  • Interleaving between layers of a chilled product.

Anywhere hot food might be wrapped by mistake, it is worth keeping stock physically separate.

Ordering, Artwork and Delivery

Getting a Quote

Measure the item, then add enough on each side to fold and tuck. We reply with a written specification, the minimum order quantity and the lead time for your job.

Artwork

One or two colours reproduce most reliably on an absorbent stock. Full file requirements are set out in our artwork guidelines.

Turnaround

Lead times depend on the print method, run length and press schedule, so we confirm yours on the quote rather than publishing a single figure.

Custom Wax Paper: Common Questions

Can waxed paper wrap hot food?

No. The coating softens with heat, transfers onto the food and stops working. For hot items, greaseproof or parchment is the right choice.

Does waxed paper print well?

It does, though the coating means ink sits on the surface rather than soaking in, so it can be more prone to scuffing. Simple designs in one or two colours hold up most reliably.

What is it genuinely good at?

Repelling moisture. Cold sandwiches, confectionery, cheese and anything that would go soggy in plain paper.

Is it the same as greaseproof?

No. Greaseproof resists oil through dense fibres; waxed paper resists moisture through a coating, and behaves differently under heat.

Can we use it for interleaving?

Yes. Interleaving chilled products is one of the main uses alongside wrapping, because a sheet between portions stops them freezing into a single block that has to be prised apart.

Will it affect taste?

With cold food, generally not. With anything warm the coating can become noticeable, which is another reason to keep uses separate.

How is it supplied?

Flat sheets or reams, with interleaved options where staff take one at a time at a counter.

Is it recyclable?

A wax coating changes the disposal route and acceptance depends on local collection. We confirm the material rather than the outcome.

Can we use waxed paper for cheese?

For short-term wrapping, yes, though cheese paper manages moisture better over several days. It depends how long it is held.

Does the wax coating affect printing?

It does, which is why printing happens before waxing rather than after. Tell us at quote stage that the sheet is to be waxed so the ink and the coating are specified together.

Prefer to Talk It Through?

Sizing questions are usually quicker on the phone, especially if you have the product in front of you.
