A Channel, Not a Flat Base

A shallow trough sized to the roll holds the dog upright with the toppings facing up. That is the whole design problem solved in one feature.

Trays without it work fine on a table and badly the moment they are carried.

Points to Specify

Roll length, which sets the tray length more than anything else.
Whether a side is served on the same tray or separately.
Channel width, sized to the roll rather than the sausage.
Board with sauce resistance, since mustard and ketchup end up on the tray.

Footlongs need their own tray; they do not fit a standard one at an angle.

For walking customers, sleeves for hot dogs taken away do the job a tray cannot.

Do we need a tray if the dog is already in a sleeve?

Only if a side is served with it. A sleeved dog on its own is easy to carry; a sleeved dog plus chips needs somewhere to put both.

Will one tray fit standard and footlong?

Not comfortably. A footlong on a standard tray overhangs at both ends and tips. If you sell both, size the tray for the footlong or run two.

Do we need a channel?

If the tray is ever carried, yes. On a flat base the roll rolls into the side, and the toppings end up on the tray.

Do we need a tray if the dog is already sleeved?

Only if a side is served with it. A sleeved dog alone is easy to carry; add chips and the customer needs somewhere to put both.

What board copes with mustard and ketchup?

Sauce resistance rather than plain grease resistance. Tell us what goes on top, because acidic sauces work on coatings differently.

How wide should the channel be?

Sized to the roll rather than the sausage, since the roll is what sits in it. Send a roll measurement with your enquiry.

Can we fit a drink on the same tray?

With a cut-out sized to your cup base, yes, though it makes the tray considerably larger. That is a bespoke die.

Do these suit a market pitch?

They do. Outdoor trading argues for a laminated finish alongside the sauce-resistant board, since a tray that softens in drizzle costs more in remakes than the finish costs to add.

Where does the print go?

The rim and the outer faces. The channel and the base are covered as soon as the tray is loaded.

Can we print a menu name on the tray?

Yes. On a counter serving several dog varieties it saves opening anything to check which is which.
